Motion
A body is said to be in motion if it changes its position with respect to a certain point.
or a body changes its position with the change of time. The body is said to be in motion.
This certain point is known as reference point.
A body is said to be at rest if it does not change its position with respect to a certain point.
or a body does not change its position with the change of time. The body is said to be at rest.
In this universe not a single body is absolutely at rest
Uniform Motion
If a body covers equal distances in equal intervals of time. The motion of the body is said to be in uniform.
Non Uniform
If a body does not cover equal distances in equal interval of time. The motion of the body is said to be in non uniform.
Distance
The length of path which is covered in any direction by a body is said to be distance. The SI unit of distance is metre. It is generally denoted by "m". Distance is a scalar quantity. It can not be negative.
Displacement
The length of path which is covered in a certain direction by a body is said to be displacement. The SI unit of displacement is metre. It is generally denoted by " m". Displacement is a vector quantity. It can be either positive or negative.
